BOK CENTER ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER RECEIVES INDUSTRY AWARD
(Tulsa, Okla.) April 1, 2015 – The SMG-managed BOK Center is proud to announce that Venue’s TodayMagazine has named Casey Sparks, BOK Center Assistant General Manager, as one of five recipients of the 2015 Generation Next Award. The award honors influential young leaders 35 or younger who make a difference in sports, music, conventions, family shows and festivals.
“There’s no question of Casey’s passion for this industry. She constantly motivates those around her at BOK Center and is a natural leader,” said BOK Center General Manager Jeff Nickler. “Her passion and enthusiasm for her work make her more than deserving of this award and we couldn’t be more proud of her.”
In January 2015, Sparks led the BOK Center team through a successful Garth Brooks residency of seven sold-out-shows. Brooks’ visit to his hometown of Tulsa generated enormous national media attention and his performances set a venue record for the most tickets sold by a single artist with over 130,000 total tickets sold. The highlight of his two-week residency was a Saturday night of back-to-back performances. The two shows in one night welcomed over 36,000 fans through the doors and Sparks was at the helm of it all making sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized as an influential leader in an industry that is bursting with so much talent,” said Sparks. “There are many people throughout my career that have contributed to my success. The current staff at BOK Center is no exception. Without them always striving to be the best and keeping BOK Center as a top-notch venue, I wouldn’t have even been considered for this award. It belongs as much to them as it does to me.”
The other four recipients of the 2015 Generation Next Award include Russell Gordon, Sr. Director Events and Venue Operations at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Gunnar Fox, General Manager of Global Spectrum – PPL Center, David Farrar, General Manager of SMG-managed Santander Arena & Performing Arts Center and Rebecca Bolton, General Manager of Global Spectrum – Las Cruces Convention Center.
The Generation Next Award winners were determined by vote through Venue’s Today subscribers and staff and will be profiled in the June issue of Venue’s Today Magazine.
